How do lace front wigs differ from "regular" wigs?
The main advantage of the full lace wig over other styles is that one can wear their hair in up dos, ponytails, and other styles that expose one's nape area. Traditional wigs usually preclude these styling options. Lace wigs are also more lightweight and comfortable than traditional wigs due to the minimization of tension on the scalp.

What kind of hair is used?
Our wigs are made with regular Remy and Virgin Remy hair. Depending on the style or texture achieved, the hair goes through some processing which makes it less prone to tangling or matting that is often experienced with hair widely available in local markets. Curly, wavy and Relaxed textured styles have more processing than those that are not as they are processed for both a color and the curl/relaxed textured pattern. Because Indian and Chinese hair is naturally dark, light colored hair goes through an extra process where the dark color has to be "stripped" and then the lighter color added. Therefore, light colored hair is processed more than the darker colors (unless you choose Virgin light colored hair which does not go through this step; however, it is also more rare and very expensive). This is why we do not offer very curly styles in lighter colors because the additional process of the permanent curl (on top of the color stripping and color adding) will be too damaging to the hair. Natural light colored hair (blondes and light browns, for example) are available by special order per market prices. Usually this hair originates from Russia or Ukraine.

Can I wear lace wigs if I have a full head of hair?
Absolutely! One can braid/cornrow, twist, wrap, or flatten hair to prepare for application. The main objective is to get one's hair as flat as possible for the most natural look.

Is it really undetectable?
Once applied correctly our wigs are, indeed, very undetectable. Your admirers may not even believe you if you told them that you were wearing a wig!

Can I wear different textures and colors than my own?
Absolutely! Once you apply beyond your natural hairline, you can go from a long & straight to short & curly. The choice is up to you.

How is the length measured and how do I know what length to buy?
The length of our wigs is measured from the crown to the hair's tip (from front to back). The length of layered hairstyles will be described based on the length of the hair before styling. Use measuring tape to measure from the crown of your head to where you want the hair to fall. If the hair of the wig is longer than what you desire, you can have it expertly cut by your stylist.

Do I have to use adhesives to wear my wig?
No- the bobby pin method will work just fine also (using bobby pins to attach wig to client's own hair). It really will depend on your circumstances and lifestyle. Some clients like to remove their wigs on a daily basis and find that pinning it down is convenient even though it allows for less styling options. Others may want to maximize the length of hold and their styling options by applying the wig on their heads' full perimeter with adhesives. The best adhesive for you will depend on your body's chemistry.

Can I wear the wig behind my hairline?
Yes, many of our clients do- especially ones with smaller foreheads who cannot afford the room to apply the wig in front of their natural hairline.

How long will my wig last?
The life of your wig will depend on your use and care of it. If handled properly, it should last you 6 months to a year and even longer depending on your handling & use.

How long can I wear my wig at a time?
Your extended wear will depend on what adhesives you use, your body chemistry and how your skin responds to the adhesives, and how frequently you wish to re-apply. We stress that it is important for you to be mindful of your hair and scalp condition underneath during extended wear. Most clients achieve a 1-2 week hold with the right adhesive, washing and nurturing their own hair in between applications. If you are bald or have significant hair loss, you are likely to achieve a much longer hold.

What density should I order and why does it matter?
The density refers to how thick the hair is and what density you order is really based on personal choice. Most women achieve a natural appearance with light to medium or medium density; however, your choice will depend on your styling preferences and individual profile.

Can I swim in it or play sports?
Yes, you can exercise in your wig if you apply with an adhesive that works with your body chemistry and can withstand this type of activity.

Can the hair be flat ironed or curled?
The hair is 100% human hair that can withstand household styling tools such as curling irons and flat irons. You can wash, set, and style the wig as you would your own hair. But like your natural hair, the hair can get damaged with the misuse and overuse of products.

Can I have a style or color made that is not currently shown in your gallery?
Yes, our catalog is being continually updated so not every available style is represented on the site. We offer customization at reasonable prices. Please send us your photos and detailed information on how you would like your wig made and we will provide you with a quote.

When will my custom lace wig order be ready?
After we receive payment and finalize your order, please allow 7-9 weeks for delivery.

What forms of payment are accepted for online purchases?
We accept Visa and Mastercard and also process payments through PayPal. The customer can make the choice during the checkout process. We also accept valid Money Orders by mail. We will only hold an item if we receive verification (tracking information or delivery confirmation) that the money order has been mailed. Once the money order clears, we will ship your order. Orders can also be placed via Visa or Mastercard by phone, email or fax.

Will De Novo Hair send an order confirmation via email?
All orders will follow with an order confirmation email. Once your order has shipped, you will receive another email with your tracking number information. Please allow up to 48 hours for your tracking number to register in the carrier's system.

Do you provide repair services on your units?
Yes, we do provide repairs for units purchased from DeNovoHair.com. The cost depends on the amount of work that is needed. To request a repair, first email us for a Repair Form and RA#. No repair packages will be accepted without an issued RA# and completed Repair Form. All products MUST be thoroughly cleaned and have no glue or residue for a repair. We do not provide cleaning services and are unable to repair if the product is not cleaned properly. Repairs typically take 6-8 weeks to complete.

How is sales tax charged?
Items being shipped to Illinois will incur a sales tax of 10.25% per order (Chicago, IL, Cook County sales tax). Customers in other states are not charged IL sales tax.

Can orders be shipped to a P.O. box?
Orders being shipped to P.O. box addresses must be shipped via USPS.

Can you ship to an address other than my billing address?

We understand that sometimes customers need to send items to addresses other than their billing address because no one is home to sign for the package or the package is a surprise. We are able to ship to an address other than your billing address once you provide verification of your identity and authorization of the purchase.

In order to protect our customers, whenever the shipping address is different than the credit card's billing address or your order has been flagged for any other reason, we require the following before we can ship your order:

My order total was modified or cancelled so why is there a charge still on my credit card?
DeNovoHair.com will process an authorization on your card when the order is placed. An authorization or pending transaction ensures that there are enough funds in the account and allocates the amount needed for the order. However, an authorization will drop off your account unless we actually charge your card for the funds. If we cancel your order and have not processed the charge, the authorization will still show in your account for 2-5 business days depending on your bank’s policies. If you need to cancel the authorization prior to this time, please call your bank to inquire about their policies for doing so. If we have actually charged the funds, the funds will be refunded within 1 business days. Your bank will be able to verify whether the transaction is an authorization vs. a charge.
