WIG SPECIFICATIONS:

Cap Construction
Wig Type: You can choose between our most popular choices of a full lace (all lace) or lace front (lace in front only) wig. You may also choose to have a polymer thin skin base which imitates a natural skin tone. This type of base tends to be more uncomfortable than the lace, so when customers chose thin skin it is often used only on certain parts of the base while the rest of the base is made of lace. The most popular choice with polymer bases is to have a lace base made with thin skin only on the outer perimeter. View our lace wig cap construction page for pictures of these examples.

Lace Material and Color: Choose between French or Swiss lace. Swiss lace is very fine and delicate and is the most undetectable choice. Though French lace is not as undetectable (but also a suitable choice), its advantage is that it is more durable. Pick a lace color that can closely match your skin tone. If the color is not exact, you can also tint the lace yourself. Our light lace is a good choice for those who find it hard to find a match because it can easily be tinted to your color. French lace is a good choice for first timers as it is more durable (though it also needs to be delicately handled).
When picking out a lace color, remember that the skin on our scalp is usually lighter in color than the rest of our complexion (our scalp is usually hidden from the sun). We carry most of our stock wigs in the light brown lace because it is the most versatile. The light brown lace has just a hint of color, which can work for tan persons to medium brown colored persons. Another point to consider is that once glued down, the lace gets wet and is a little darker. That's why the light brown lace can work well for both light brown and medium brown skin tones. Once glued down, it "disappears" against one's skin. This is all about camouflaging, and not about matching exactly.

Light lace- This lace color is best for those with the fairest skin tones

Light brown lace- This color is the most versatile for tan, light brown or medium brown skin tones. Even though the model is medium brown skinned, the light brown camouflages best picking up on the yellow undertones in her skin. Once glued down, this lace will disappear to the eye.

Medium brown lace- This color works best for medium brown and dark brown skin tones, but also is chosen by light to medium brown skin persons

Dark brown lace- For dark brown skin tones

Knots: Bleached knots advance the illusion that hair is growing out of your scalp because the actual knot is less visible due to the bleaching. It is not necessary on most wigs and the color is difficult to lift for dark colors. For instance, we do not bleach the knots on Jet black color #1 wigs, as the color does not lift. In fact, we make all of our wigs with very natural hairlines such that bleached knots are not necessary. Please note that we only bleach knots along the hairline from ear to ear unless you request otherwise. Bleached knots are not necessary for hair of lighter colors (e.g., especially colors in the blonde family). Single knots are appropriate for lighter densities and are great for around the hairline because the knots are very hard to notice. Double knots are suitable for heavier densities and are recommended for durability.

Natural hairline: We provide standard natural looking hairline construction for all orders. You may also opt for a widow's peak. Customers should understand that it is difficult to perfectly match all the irregularities of one's hairline without a template. If there is any concern, it may be helpful to add a little to your measurements to make sure it is covering your natural hairline.

Adjustable stretch: To help ensure a better fit, you can choose stretch in the middle/crown area, from ear to ear over the top, or just by the ear (ear tabs) to adjust the wig. We usually provide stretch in our stock wigs so customers will have a little leeway if their measurements are not exact. If you get your wig custom made to your proper measurements, you may not need the stretch. View our lace wig cap construction page for pictures of these examples.

Hair Styling: All wigs will be ventilated such that one can part the hair anywhere on the wig. If you want the hair pattern in a different way, please specify so in the comments.

Hair
Length: Please note that the hair is measured from the crown of the wig to the end of the hair (from front to back). You can measure your desired length by measuring from your own crown to your desired length. The length of layered hairstyles will be described based on the length of the hair from the crown to the ends before styling. Please remember that hair at the nape will be shorter than the hair on the rest of the wig for bluntly cut hairstyles.

Hair Color: Please see our color chart for your desired color. It is important to note that though we try to represent our colors accurately, we cannot control for differences in customer's computer screen quality and settings. So the same color may be viewed differently on different computer screens. Colors can be mixed and highlighted. As there are many different ways to highlight hair, it would be best if you could provide us with a picture of your desired look.

Hair Density:Please see our density chart for your desired look. Light to medium (80%-100%) and medium densities are suitable for most women. You can specify different densities for different parts of the cap. For example, many people have a lighter density at their hairlines and temples which progresses to a medium density at the crown and back. Everyone is different though, so make sure to order the right density to fit your needs.

Hair type and texture: You may choose to have your wig made from 100% Indian Remy, Chinese Remy, European Remy, Mongolian Remy, Malaysian Remy or Virgin Remy hair. As far as texture?...Yaki? Straight? Curly? Wavy? Please provide a picture if your texture is not based from one currently pictured on our site. You can also name one of our wigs (i.e., Mimi) to indicate which curl pattern you want.

1. SILKY STRAIGHT- Silky with sheen. This hair type is not textured and is suitable for woman of all ethnicities, matching the texture of hair that grows straight naturally (without having any chemical processing to make it straight). Examples: Shirley

2. SILKY RELAXED- Silky with less sheen. This hair texture resembles 1) curly or fine hair that has been straightened 2) hair that grows straight naturally without a lot of shine. Examples: Kelsey,

3. REGULAR RELAXED- Textured but smooth & straight. This hair type resembles chemically straightened curly or tightly coiled hair. In likeness of a "fresh relaxer" look. Examples: Examples: Ariel

4. COARSE RELAXED-Highly textured with crimps. This hair type resembles tightly coiled Afro hair that has been straightened. It has less sheen. Examples: Shayla

5. NATURAL RELAXED- Straight but highly textured. Resembles flat ironed or blow dried coily/curly/wavy hair (hair that is straightened without chemicals). A full textured straight look. Examples: Rhonda, Michelle

Baby hairs: Baby hairs help further the illusion of naturalness though is not absolutely necessary.

Measurements:
It is extremely important for you to take your measurements correctly to ensure a proper fit. It is so disappointing to wait for your beautiful wig to be made only to realize that it doesn't fit. Please refer to our measurement page before submitting your measurements to us. Our wig makers will ventilate your wig to the specifications you provide and adjustments cannot be made once production starts. You may also choose to make a head template to help ensure the best fit. The greatest advantage is that you will have control over getting the best fit including matching the unit's hairline to your own.
