Cap Design
There are many ways to construct a lace wig. Your choice will really depend on your needs and preferences. More experienced users usually have a good idea of what they like and don't like and can get more specific about their choices. However, most can pick from our standard choices which we list as "most popular".
Pick Cap Construction
Below you will find pictures and examples of base cap choices. This list is not exhaustive but provides an overview and example of the most common types. Please keep in mind that the exact location of the seams will depend on the contours of your head & where support for a quality cap is needed.

Pick Cap Material
Your unit looks best when the lace is well camouflaged against your skin tone. So pick out a color from the choices closest to your skin tone. The desired effect is that once glued down, the lace will "disappear" to the eye against one's skin.
Base Material: Description:
Swiss Lace (Most Popular) Almost all of the wigs we sell are Swiss lace wigs. This is the most popular and recommended choice due to its superior advantage in camouflaging. Those new to lace wigs are sometimes cautious because they think the Swiss lace is too fragile and will tear on them. However, the Swiss lace is not so fragile that it will fall apart in your hands. The lace is fine for great undetectability but it is durable enough for normal use and wear.
French Lace French lace is not as fine as the Swiss lace. The material is thicker and not as undetectable as Swiss lace. You would be trading out undetectability for a little more durability with this choice.
Stretch Lace Stretch lace allows for adjustment and proper fit. Almost all the wigs we sell will have a stretch panel in the middle to accommodate for sizing and fit.
LACE COLORS
Transparent

Lace is clear. Recommended if your skin tone is close to Tina Fey's.

Light Tan

Recommended if your skin tone is close to Kim Kardashian's.

 Light Brown

Recommended if your skin tone is close to Tyra Banks'.

Medium Brown

Recommended if your skin tone is close to Oprah Winfrey's.

 Dark Brown

Recommended if your skin tone is close to Alex Wek's.
Baby Hairs
Baby hairs help further the illusion of naturalness. These short hairs are tied on the perimeter of the wig. The hairs can be brushed into the rest of the hairs on the wig, or you can separate them and brush them toward your face. Baby hairs are made standard on all units unless otherwise requested. Virtually all of our customers request baby hairs as it greatly helps with the naturalness of the wig.
Knots
Knots simply refer to how the hairs are tied onto the base of the cap. The hairs are hand tied in individual sections to mimic natural hair growth. This is one of the main reasons lace units look so natural and move the way naturally growing hair does.

Single knots mean that the individual hairs are tied and knotted once. We tie the hair around the hairline in single knots because the knots are very hard to notice as they are smaller (less hair in a smaller knot). This makes for effortless camouflaging for your installation. Single knots on the entire cap are useful for those who have complete hair loss and want to make sure that they can part anywhere and have camouflaged knots. Double knots are suitable for heavier densities and are recommended for durability. For heavier densities, we need to tie more hairs into a knot to create the fullness required.

Bleached Knots
Aside from having single knots at the hairline, knots can also be bleached to help further the illusion that the hair is growing out of one's scalp. The objective here is to lighten the hair at the "root" (where the knots are tied) so that the knots are hard to see. Bleaching is not necessary on most wigs as we make them with single knots at the hairline. Knots are most visible on darker colored units. We do one bleaching and if the color does not lighten, we do not keep re-bleaching it in order to preserve the integrity of the hair and lace. Jet black hair is not bleached because the color is difficult to lift and would require too much harsh processing to do so. Please note that we only bleach knots along the hairline from ear to ear unless you request otherwise. You may also bleach the knots on your own to get it to your desired lightness. Bleached knots are not necessary for hair of lighter colors (e.g., especially colors in the blonde family) because the knots are hard to see without the bleaching.
Hairline Type
Widow's Peak We make all unit hairlines standard without a widow's peak. A widow's peak hairline is V-shaped in the middle of the hairline. Customers should understand that it is difficult to perfectly match all the irregularities of one's hairline without a template. Our hairlines are made to a standard natural looking shape and are not the harsh-edged horseshoe caps you would find in your local beauty supply store.

Hair Part
All units are made with "free-style" parting unless otherwise specified. You can part the hair anywhere on the cap and style the hair as desired. Almost all of our pictured wigs have free-style parting. If you are used to wearing your hair in a particular way, you can also specify the direction of hair flow on custom orders. For instance, you can specify if you want the hair to stay parted on one side, parted down the middle, or if you want bangs to stay toward the face. The disadvantage here is that no matter how you style your wig, the hair and part will stay in the same place.
Hair Density
Density refers to how much hair is used on your cap to create fullness. It is important to note that the perception of density is affected by the type of hair used and how it is styled (e.g., rollers and hair spray create the illusion of fullness). Curly, wavy and poofy textured hair expands when combed out. When the hair is separated and combed, it looks fuller. Therefore, two wigs with the same exact hair density can look different based on the way it is styled and its hair texture. For a natural look, pick a density that is close to your own. Medium density is the average choice. It is generally better to have more hair than less because you can always thin it out. You will also have more hair to accommodate for normal shedding from daily grooming. Lighter density units need repairs more quickly for this reason- this is why we do not recommend densities less than 80%.
